On 21 January 2016, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping attended the 19th ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Meeting and delivered remarks.
Secretary-General Yang said ASEAN countries were implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, and China was drafting its 13th Five-Year-Plan, which would provide new opportunities for ASEAN-China cooperation. The realization of the ASEAN Community had laid solid foundation and injected new impetus for common development and prosperity of ASEAN countries. This year’s ASEAN Tourism Forum themed “ASEAN: One Community with Sustainability” resonated with the current regional and international development. She expressed her confidence that the Meeting would help promote comprehensive and integrative development of ASEAN tourism industry, upgrade the level of ASEAN-China tourism exchanges and enhance people-to-people understanding and friendship.
Secretary-General Yang elaborated on the efforts of ACC in promoting ASEAN-China pragmatic cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, education, culture and tourism, as well as information and public relations. She further added that in the past 4 years since its establishment, ACC had completed nearly 90 flagship projects and engaged in over 400 activities, and played an active role in strengthening ASEAN-China relations and enhancing the welfare of the people. The participating countries expressed their appreciation for ACC’s contribution to promoting the bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and hoped that the communication with ACC to carry out more activities such as marketing and capacity building based on the actual needs of respective ASEAN countries would be further enhanced.
During the 19th ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Meeting, Secretary-General Yang also conversed with Secretary-General of ASEAN, representatives from delegations of Viet Nam, Myanmar and Singapore, as well as delegates from UNWTO, WTTC and PATA.
