On 21 January 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with H.E. Ms. Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia in Manila, the Philippines.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of Malaysia’s highly effective work during its role as ASEAN Chair, and thanked for Malaysia’s positive contribution to the development of ASEAN-China relations. She acknowledged the strong support ACC received from Malaysia. With the assistance of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia, ACC successfully co-hosted the capacity building programme for local tourism professionals and policy makers in Kuala Lumpur, which was well received. Malaysia had a well-developed tourism industry with rich experiences in tourism management and resources development. ACC would like to strengthen communication with Malaysia and jointly explore new model of ASEAN-China tourism exchanges and cooperation.
Deputy Minister Samsudin praised ACC’s support for Malaysia’s tourism development. She appreciated ACC’s role in co-hosting the capacity building programme for local tourism professionals and policy makers in Kuala Lumpur, and was confident that the effort would help improve the service of local tourism industry. She acknowledged the increase of Chinese visitors to Malaysia in 2015. With rich resources, Malaysia’s tourism had a bright prospect. She hoped that both sides would continue to join hands to tap the potentials to attract more Chinese tourists to Malaysia, with an aim to promote mutual understanding as well as economic and social development in both countries.
