ACC Secretary-General Met with Director-General of Guizhou Foreign Affairs Office

On 23 February 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Mr. Yuan Huimin, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province.

Secretary-General Yang said that ACC was mandated to realize the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, to facilitate social-economic development of the 11 countries and to contribute to the well-being of the nearly 2 billion people. In recent years, remarkable achievements had been made in ASEAN-China educational cooperation in the context of all-round progress of concrete cooperation in all fields. 2016 marked the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and the ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchange. ACC would, in close coordination and collaboration with FAO of Guizhou Province,organize a series of activities within the framework of the Year, extend and enrich the contents of cooperation, and further raise the profile of the ASEAN-China Education Cooperation Week (ACECW).

Director General Yuan Huimin congratulated on the success of the Tripartite Meeting of ACC, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee of the ACECW and thanked ACC for its great support to the social-economic development and the opening to the outside world of the Province. He said Guizhou was currently implementing the Strategies of Big Data, Macro Poverty Reduction, Macro Ecology, Macro Tourism, which were expected to help make headway in all causes of Guizhou. Through the platform of the ACECW, Guizhou had carried out colorful activities and made fruitful achievements in ASEAN-China cooperation in jointly running schools, student exchanges, teacher training, and vocational education. FAO of Guizhou was ready to build closer links with ACC, renovate modes of cooperation, and help raise the cooperation in education, tourism and culture between ASEAN and China to a new level.
