2016 China Bee Products Industry Conference (CBPIC) and ASEAN-China Cooperation Forum were held in Chengdu on 15 March 2016. The Conference was co-hosted by China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Product (CFNA) and ASEAN-China Centre (ACC). ACC Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Vice President of China CFNA Mr. Rong Weidong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Mr. Pang Guofang, President of the International Honey Committee Dr. Beckh, Vice-Chairman of the International Federation of Beekeeping Association Mr. Lucas, and Chairman of the All Nippon Honey Cooperative Mr. Kiho Masafumi attended the conference and delivered speeches.
Vice President Rong Weidong said that in recent years China bee products industry was developing rapidly. It had made great achievements, while still faced many problems. The whole industry should uphold the concept of innovation, coordination, green, open, and shared development during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Rong said that the industry was to make innovation the first engine of development, to solve the problem of unbalanced regional development, to strive to improve product quality, to make the "bringing in" and "going out" equally important, and try to realize sustainable development of the whole industry.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping pointed out that beekeeping was an important part of modern agriculture, and was also a part of the green economy. Some ASEAN countries attached importance to the development of beekeeping and had their own characteristics and advantages. In recent years, trade ties between China and Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar and other ASEAN countries had become increasingly closer. She believed that this conference would build a new platform for China and the world’s beekeeping industry to deepen cooperation and find new opportunities to achieve mutual benefit and win-win.
Secretary-General Yang briefly introduced ACC’s major role, which was for the promotion and cooperation in the fields of ASEAN-China trade, investment, education, culture, tourism. It had done a lot of work and received positive evaluation from relevant parties. As the negotiation of upgraded version of ASEAN-China Free Trade Area had been completed, and the ASEAN Community formally established, ASEAN-China trade and economic cooperation would enjoy broaderprospects and greater potential. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-China dialogue relations. ACC wouldtake this opportunity to join hands with ASEAN Community to move forward with the times, to blaze new trails, and to play a greater role in promoting ASEAN-China cooperation.
Mr. Pang Guofang, Dr. Baker, Vice-President Lucas, Chairman Mr. Kiho Masafumi said in their speeches that the conference provided a good opportunity for the global beekeepers to share their experiences and to discuss about cooperation. They hoped that in future they could further strengthen exchange and cooperation in terms of trading trend analysis, scientific research, marketing, pest prevention and control technology, to promote healthy and sustainable development of bee industry.
More than 200 representatives from China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Argentina and Uruguay attended the activities. Since 2011, CBPIC has been successfully held for five years and was spoken highly by the industry. The theme of this year’s conference is "Pure ▪ Real".
