From 21 to 23 March 2016, Mouavixay Palee, Deputy Director of Trade and Investment Division (TID) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) attended the China-ASEAN Trade Facilitation Assessment Report Meeting in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Meeting was co-hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), Republic of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), organized by the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) and supported by China-ASEAN Research Institute of Guangxi University.
The meeting was attended by Mme. He Xiaoling, Secretary General of CABIS and Chairman of CCPIT Guangxi, Mr. Chheav Pha, Director for Department of Market Development, Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, Mr. Thanongsinh Kanlagna, Vice President of LNCCI, Mr. Aung Soe, Deputy Director-General of the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Deputy Director-General for International Relations Department of VCCI, as well as officials and experts from Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Chamber of Commerce of CLMV countries, Counsellor Qin Yang of the Expert Commission of CCPIT, representatives from Guangxi Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Port Office of Guangxi Department of Commerce and Nanning Customs Supervision Department as well as officials and researchers from Guangxi.
The participants actively made their constructive comments and suggestions on the Survey Report and hoped it could greatly contribute to the trade facilitation between CLMV and China, particularly Guangxi. Deputy Director Mouavixay took this opportunity to promote ACC as well as its work in the meeting. He expressed gratitude and support to the initiative of CABIS for conducting the survey in order to further simplify the import and export procedures of China and CLMV. He believed that the paper would be a part of important efforts to push forward the target of 1 trillion USD of two-way trade between ASEAN and China by 2020.
During the visit in Nanjing, representatives of ACC visited the Pingxiang Integrated Free Trade Zone in China and Viet Nam border and the China-ASEAN RMB Settlement Centre in Nanning, and had exchanges with leaders and officials there.
