ACC Secretary-General Met with Delegation of Guangxi University

On 7 March 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Mr. Liu Zhengdong, Vice Chairman of Guangxi Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Guangxi University Council, who led a delegation of Guangxi University to visit ACC. Ms. Shang Nahong, Vice President of Guangxi University, and Mr. Sun Jianhua, Deputy Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division (ECTD) of ACC, attended the meeting.

Mr. Liu Zhengdong spoke highly of ACC’s contributions to promoting concrete cooperation between ASEAN and China and thanked ACC for its great support to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangxi University. He briefed on the efforts and initiatives made by the University to boost cooperation between ASEAN and Chinese universities and think tanks through such platforms as the China-ASEAN Collaborative Innovation Centre for Regional Development and the China-ASEAN Research Institute.  He looked forward to continued support and assistance from ACC.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping commended Guangxi University for its endeavours to carry on educational exchanges between ASEAN and China and to serve regional social-economic development. She said that 2016 marked the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations, the ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchange and the first year after the realization of ASEAN Community, and noted the huge potentials  and bright prospects of ASEAN-China cooperation. As education concerned common interests of every family and had a strong bearing on the social-economic development of all countries, ACC had listed 4 educational projects among the 19 flagship projects in 2016. ACC was ready to strengthen cooperation with educational organizations including Guangxi University to make fresh contributions to the development of ASEAN-China relations.
