ACC Secretary-General Met with Director-General of DFOCA of Sichuan Province

On 16 March 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Mr. Mu Xinhai, Director-General of the Department of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs (DFOCA) of Sichuan Provincial People's Government. Mr. Zhang Tao, Deputy Director-General of DFOCA was present at the meeting.

At the meeting, Director-General Mu Xinhai said that Sichuan, as a major province in terms of economy, population, resources and science and education in Western China, enjoyed strong complementarity and great advantages in cooperation with ASEAN. This brought about huge markets and enormous potential of cooperation for both sides. Sichuan hoped to strengthen communication with ACC and make joint efforts to deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries in trade, investment, culture, tourism, sister-city exchange for the social-economic development of the Province.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping congratulated Sichuan Province on its achievements in exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries, and thanked DFOCA for its support to concrete cooperation between ASEAN and China. 2016 marked the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and the ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchange, affording new opportunities to the relations of both sides. In 2016, ACC would conduct a series of activities within the framework of ASEAN-China Week and carry out 19 flagship projects. Sichuan was welcomed to partake in ASEAN-China exchanges and cooperation. ACC looked forward to further collaboration with Sichuan and helping push forward cooperation between ASEAN and Sichuan to a new stage.
