ACC Secretary-General Interviewed by Tianjin People’s Broadcasting Station

On 21 July 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was interviewed by Tianjin People’s Broadcasting Station during her attendance at the closing ceremony of the first ASEAN-China Youth Summer Camp in Tianjin International Chinese College, and answered questions about ASEAN-China educational exchange and cooperation and the role of Tianjin city in promoting the development of ASEAN-China relations.

Secretary-General Yang briefed on the recent work of ACC, and noted that this year marked the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and the Year of Educational Exchange, which provided favorable opportunities for the two sides to expand educational exchange and cooperation. ACC had been actively implementing the consensus reached by the leaders, and making solid progress in promoting the four flagship projects this year in the area of education. ACC had successfully hosted the ASEAN-China Forum of Youth and Humanities, ASEAN-China Youth Leadership Summit, etc. ACC would also actively participate in the ninth China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, and exchange views on further promoting ASEAN-China education cooperation with all stakeholders.

Secretary-General Yang expressed appreciation to Tianjin city for attaching great importance to educational exchange and cooperation with ASEAN. She said that Tianjin had made effective efforts on vocational education and Chinese language training, and played an important role in promoting people-to-people friendship between ASEAN and China. By fully making use of ASEAN-China Chinese Language and Culture Education Base and other platforms, ACC would like to enhance cooperation and strengthen coordination with Tianjin to further promote friendly exchanges among young students and the in-depth development of ASEAN-China relations.
