The ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) participated in the Special ASEAN Tourism Competitive Committee Meeting (ATCC) on Visit ASEAN@50, a preparatory meeting of the 44th Meeting of National Tourism Organizations (NTOs), which was successfully concluded in Bangkok on 26 July 2016. Officials the Ministries of Tourism of ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Secretariat, representatives from ASEAN-Japan Centre, ASEAN-Korea Centre, tourism enterprises and other relevant organizations participated in the meeting. Mr. Tri Purnajaya, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism delivered a presentation on behalf of ACC.
In his presentation, Director Tri Purnajaya thanked the ASEAN Secretariat and Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand for convening the meeting and their continued support to ACC. He said that tourism cooperation was significant to strengthen relations between countries and friendship among the peoples. ACC considered tourism as a priority and a contribution to the social-economic development in the region. He added that ACC had implemented various activities, including forums, vocational training, media reporting, tourism guidebook compilations, photo competitions and exhibitions, which were well received by the public. In 2016, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations, ACC had organized events in education, culture, tourism, trade and investment. In 2016, ACC had 19 flagship projects, two of which were related to tourism, namely, “Innovation of ASEAN and China Tourism Promotion” and “Chinese Traveler’s Service Matching”. This year, ACC was working closely with its partners to co-organize events to promote ASEAN tourism, such as workshops and shooting documentary series in ASEAN countries.
Director Tri also discussed with the participants of the Meeting on potential tourism cooperation in 2017, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, next year’s ASEAN Tourism Forum in line with Visit ASEAN@50.
