On August 1 2016, China-ASEAN Vocational Education Cooperation Dialogue co-hosted by ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Jiangsu and Guizhou Provincial Department of Education was held in Guiyang. Nearly 300 people including officials from the Ministry of Education of Myanmar, Malaysia and Lao PDR, and representatives from China and ASEAN vocational universities attended the Forum. ACC Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping attended and addressed the forum.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping briefed on the latest development of ASEAN-China relations and ACC’s relevant practical cooperation work in vocational education area. Secretary General Yang mentioned that vocational education is an important component of national education system and human resource development. She further added that, ASEAN countries are in the important period of social and economic development thus, required more technical human resources and expertise in fulfilling the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN Community. ASEAN-China vocational education cooperation has great potential and promising future. Secretary General proposed five recommendations to further enhance ASEAN-China vocational education cooperation. First, expand policy communication and information exchange. Second, strengthen cooperation in field of qualification framework construction. Third, make full use of the existing training cooperation platforms and resources. Fourth, actively develop the joint cooperation mode of combining production with education, and combining school with enterprise. Fifth, to promote vocational education cooperation by means of information technology.
Vice Governor Mr. Chen Mingmingof Guizhou Provincial People’s Government,Minister of Education of Myanmar H.E. Dr. Myo Thein Gyi, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat Dr.Gatot Hari Priowirjanto, Mr. Wang Yangnan,Deputy Director-General of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education from Ministry of Education of China,Director-General Mr. Shen Jian from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education attended the Forum and delivered keynote speeches. They shared views and opined on the mutual development and cooperation on vocational and technical education, expressed their hope in further enhancing functional cooperation in fields as scientific cooperation, student exchange, faculty training. Exploring and building cooperation platform for experience sharing, mutual learning would further serve regional economic development and improve the people’s well-being.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping and Myanmar’s Minister of Education H.E. Dr. Myo Thein Gyi witnessed the MoU signing ceremony between the vocational and technical education branch of China Education Association of International Exchange (CEAIE) and Ministry of Education of Myanmar .
