ACC Secretary-General Meets with Brunei Ambassador to China

On 26 August 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with H.E. Ms. Magdalene Teo, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to China and Rotating Chair of ASEAN Committee in Beijing (ACB), to discuss ASEAN-China functional cooperation and ACC’s recent work at ACC Secretariat.

Secretary-General Yang thanked ACB and the Brunei Embassy for their support to ACC and briefed on ACC’s recent work, especially its support to and participation in China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. She said that ACC is currently implementing the 19 approved flagship projects in 2016 and drafting the work programme for 2017. ACC is willing to further strengthening communication with the Embassies of ASEAN Member States in China and the people from all walks of life in ASEAN and China to implement its mandates and push forward pragmatic cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, and media with relentless efforts to foster the all-round and in-depth development of ASEAN-China relations.

Ambassador Teo spoke highly of ACC’s efforts to promote ASEAN-China communication and cooperation saying that 2016 is a historic year that marks the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and the 25th anniversary of Brunei-China diplomatic relations. The Brunei Embassy would take this opportunity, through the platform of ACC, to strengthen ASEAN-China and Brunei-China functional cooperation and people-to-people exchange and media cooperation, to promote the friendship between the people. ACB and Brunei Embassy pledged to continue its full support to ACC’s work and hoped that ACC would provide assistance to the Embassies of ASEAN Member States as always.
