ACC Participated in the 55th Governing Board Meeting of SEAMEO TROPMED Network

On 31 August 2016, the 55th Governing Board Meeting (GBM) of SEAMEO TROPMED Network was held in Bangkok, Thailand. About 30 attendees including H.E. Dr. Paulyn Jean Rusell-Ubial, Secretary of Health of the Philippines, Dr. Gatot Hari Priowirjanto, Director of SEAMEO and Prof. Dr. Pratap Singhasivanon, Secretary General of SEAMEO TROPMED Network, as well as representatives of the Governing Board Members from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam were present. 

The meeting passed the work report made by Ms. Somchanh Saysida, Chair of the 54th Governing Board, and Acting Director General of the Department of Training and Research of the Ministry of Health of Lao PDR, elected Mr. Anupong Sujariyakul, Advisor of the Department of Disease Control of the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand as the Chair of the 55th Governing Board. The meeting discussed the work report and achievements of SEAMEO TROPMED Malaysia, SEAMEO TROPMED Philippines, SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand and SEAMEO TROPMED Network office, listened to the work progress, cooperative projects and activities of SEAMEO TROPMED Member Countries and its partners. The meeting also proposed the time and venue of the next GBM.

In this occasion, ACC Education Official, Ms. Zhang Jing briefed the GBM on ACC’s role, efforts and achievements in promoting ASEAN-China cooperation in education. She said that the partnership between ACC and SEAMEO Secretariat and relevant regional centres had been constantly developed, and the cooperation with SEAMEO TROPMED Network had been deepened increasingly. The recent activities jointly conducted by the two sides were fruitful and effective, and ASEAN-China cooperation in traditional medicine and health professional education between had entered a substantive stage. She shared with the participants the information on higher education of traditional Chinese medicine in China and its internationalization, and looked forward to future cooperation on student mobility, faculty exchange, joint research and etc.

Since 2014, ACC has dispatched representatives to attend the GBM of SEAMEO TROPMED Network for three successive years, and made attempts to promote ASEAN-China cooperation in medical education.
