On 31 August 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Ms. Bonggot Anuroj, Executive Director of Investment Marketing Bureau of Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand in Bangkok.
Secretary-General Yang briefed on the progress of ASEAN-China relations and ACC. She said that this year was of special significance to ASEAN and China, as it marked the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and Year of Educational Exchange. Over the years, political mutual trust had been constantly enhanced, functional cooperation achieved fruitful results and people-to-people exchanges become more and more close. ASEAN-China relations had been the most vital and fruitful among ASEAN’s relations with dialogue relations. Since its establishment, ACC had actively implemented the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, and promoted cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. Among the 19 flagship projects of ACC for 2016, 4 were related to trade and investment. ACC would like to enhance communication with BOI of Thailand, and jointly enhance trade and investment cooperation for the benefit of the people.
Executive Director Banggot appreciated ACC’s remarkable work to promote functional cooperation. She said that Thailand and China enjoyed sound relations. BOI of Thailand maintained good working relations with provincial governments and various chambers of commerce in China. Thailand attached importance to high value-added products, high, new and environmental-friendly technology, welcomed more investment from China and encouraged Thai enterprises to make investment and explore market in China. BOI of Thailand stood ready to strengthen contact with ACC, find more common demand and converging areas of interests, and play the bridging role for Thailand-China trade and investment cooperation.
