ACC Secretary-General Paid Courtesy Call on Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos

On 4 September 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping paid courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Bosengkham Vongdara, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Lao PDR in Vientiane. Mr. Sounh Manivong, Director-General of Tourism Development    Department, and Mr. Bounleuane Boupha, Director-General of International Cooperation Department of the Ministry attended the meeting.

Secretary-General Yang expressed thanks to the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for the great support to ACC, and congratulated Lao PDR for successfully hosting the ASEAN Eco-Tourism Forum. She briefed on ACC’s recent work in the areas of information, culture and tourism, including organizing Chinese media reporting trip to ASEAN countries, youth football friendly matches, spring cultural tour, tourism cooperation forum and tourism photography contest, etc. She said that 2017 had been designated by the UN as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development, and it would also be ASEAN-China Tourism Cooperation Year. ACC would like to continuously work closely with the Ministry, and strive for more progress in Laos-China and ASEAN-China cooperation.

Minister Bosengkham said that Laos had abundant tourism resources. The Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism would like to work more closely with ACC to enhance Laos-China tourism exchange and cooperation, encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Laos, and promote sustainable tourism. He looked forward to the continued support of ACC in this regard.
