ACC Secretary-General Received Interview with CCTV

On 6 September 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), gave an interview to China Central Television (CCTV).

Secretary-General Yang said that ASEAN is the centre of East Asian cooperation, and the priority of China’s diplomacy with neighbouring countries. 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations and the ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchange. Both sides have held a number of commemorative activities covering the areas of politics, trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, youth, sports, media, etc.

Over the past 25 years, ASEAN and China have established an all-dimensional, multi-tiered and wide-ranging cooperation platform with fruitful results.  ASEAN-China relations enjoy huge potentials and broad prospects. The 19th ASEAN-China Summit which is also the Commemorative Summit Marking the 25th Anniversary of Dialogue Relations would be held in Vientiane,  Lao PDR. The Summit was expected to yield fruitful results and inject greater impetus into ASEAN-China relations.Secretary-General Yang also mentioned the functions and work of ACC. She said that ACC has vigorously implemented the consensus of the leaders of the two sides, promoted functional cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and media. ACC’s work is appreciated by leaders of ASEAN and China. This year, ACC is implementing 19 flagship projects and has organized a series of activities including ASEAN-China Week, ASEAN-China Day Fair, cultural performances and international seminar to commemorate the 25th anniversary. ACC remains committed to promoting functional cooperation, and make relentless efforts to deepen ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership and enhance people-to-people connectivity.

Secretary-General Yang thanked CCTV for their interest in the development of ASEAN-China relations and support to ACC’s work. She wished the interviews of CCTV on the East Asian Leaders’ Meetings in Lao PDR a great success.
