On 18-22 October 2016, ACC organized an investment mission to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City of Viet Nam. The mission, led by Mr. Li Yuan, Director of Trade and Investment Division of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), comprised of more than 20 entrepreneurs from Beijing, Shanghai and other parts of China. ACC and Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) co-organized China-Viet Nam Business Matching for the entrepreneurs of both sides. The mission met Mr. Do Kim Lang, Deputy Director General of Trade Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam, had in-depth discussion with China Business Association of Ho Chi Minh City branch, and called on the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of China to Viet Nam, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City and Economic and Commercial Official in Ho Chi Minh City respectively.
During the Business Matching, Director Li Yuan introduced ACC’s efforts in promoting ASEAN-China trade and investment cooperation as an intergovernmental organization co-founded by the governments of China and ASEAN Member States. He mentioned that ACC would continue to play the role as a one-stop information and activities centre and to provide cooperation platforms for entrepreneurs of ASEAN and China. The representative of ASEAN-China E-Commerce Trading Centre introduced its operation and expressed intention to provide a wider trading platform for Chinese and Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs of both sides in the areas of agricultural products, finance, logistics, architecture, etc, had in-depth exchanges of views. Both sides expressed their strong intention to make further cooperation in businesses by taking this matching as a starting point. The entrepreneurs from both sides thanked ACC for holding this activity.
During the meeting with Deputy Director General Do Kim Lang, Mr. Li Yuan cited that China and Viet Nam were close neighbors and enjoyed close trade relations. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Viet Nam had become China’s largest trading partner among ASEAN Member States in the first three quarters of this year. Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency played an important role in promoting Viet Nam’s international trade. He hoped the Agency could provide more facilitation in enhancing cooperation between the entrepreneurs of China and Viet Nam. Do Kim Lang welcomed the ACC’s mission and said that the economies of Viet Nam and China were complimentary to each other, thus, cooperation were eventually beneficial for both sides. The Agency would encourage the Vietnamese enterprises to utilize the ASEAN-China E-Commerce Trading Centre so as to boost the Viet Nam-China trading relations. He would also like to work closely with ACC to help facilitate entrepreneurs of both countries.
The Economic and Commercial Counsellor of China to Viet Nam, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City and Economic and Commercial Official in Ho Chi Minh City introduced the local business environment to the mission. The mission also had comprehensive and fruitful discussion with Chinese entrepreneurs in Viet Nam on the topics of challenges and opportunities of investing in Viet Nam.
