From 21 to 22 October 2016,the ASEAN media delegation on a reporting trip to China on the theme of “Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” visited Wuxi. Mr. Wang Jinjian, Vice Mayor of Wuxi City, and Mr. Lu Zhijian, CPC Party Secretary of Xishan District affiliated to Wuxi, met with the delegation and gave interviews respectively to the journalists.
Mr. Wang Jinjian overviewed the social-economic development of the city and status and prospects of its cooperation with ASEAN countries. He said Wuxi is in close cooperation with ASEAN countries: HOdo Group, a private enterprise in Wuxi, has recently set up an industrial park in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone in Cambodia, a paragon of Chinese enterprises going global. In the future, Wuxi will further integrate itself in China’s major development strategies and enhance its cooperation with ASEAN countries within the framework of Jointly Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The reporters paid close attention to the experience of the social-economic development of Wuxi, the opportunities presented to the city by the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the new channels for its cooperation with ASEAN countries in industry, agriculture, culture, and tourism. The Vice Mayor answered all their questions eloquently in a warm and dynamic atmosphere.
In Xishan District, Mr. Lu Zhijian briefed the ASEAN journalists on Xishan’s boosting cooperation with ASEAN countries in relevant fields. The ASEAN journalists also took this opportunity to tour an ancient town named Dangkou in the district.
