On 28 October 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with Mr. Si Shuming, Board Chairman of Yunnan International Co., Ltd. (YNIC) of China Southern Power Grid (CSG) in Kunming, accompanied by Ms. Chen Shi, Vice Editor-in-chief of China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and concurrently President of the China Report Magazine, and Mr. Zhang Xuehai, Deputy Director of the Information and Public Relations Division of ACC.
Mr. Si Shuming expressed appreciation to ACC and CIPG for having arranged the ASEAN media delegation to visit YNIC. He gave a briefing on the operation of YNIC and its cooperation with ASEAN countries. He cited that YNIC has been actively participating in power grid construction in ASAEN countries. The power projects of China in Lao PDR and Viet Nam have been carried out smoothly. CSG and the Royal Group of Cambodia signed the MoU on Investment and Development of the National Power Grid. In the process of its power infrastructure development in neighbouring countries, CSG attaches great importance to the social benefits of their projects. It gives priority to cooperation with local enterprises, employment of local workers. It helps the locals in building temples, schools and hospitals, etc. YNIC also offered scholarships in the electric power speciality for ASEAN students and held professional training courses. These endeavours have been acknowledged by ASEAN countries and local people. YNIC expects to expand cooperation with ASEAN countries through the platform of ACC.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping thanked YNIC for its thoughtful arrangements for the ASEAN media delegation. She commended YINC for promoting practical cooperation between ASEAN and China. She gave a briefing on ACC’s mandates and efforts to promote trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, information and media. She said that the further advance of construction of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road provided a precious opportunity to expand mutual investments and cooperation between the two sides. ACC would like to play its role of an information and activities centre in business matchings between ASEAN and China. She welcomed YNIC to attend ACC’s activities, and contribute more to concrete cooperation between ASEAN and China.
