ACC Secretary-General Exchanged Views With JPDE Director-General

On 7 November 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) exchanged views with Mr. Shen Jian, Director-General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education (JPDE) on strengthening education exchanges and cooperation during the Jiangsu-ASEAN Dialogue on Education Cooperation.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping thanked JPDE for its thoughtful preparation and arrangements to ensure the success of the activity, and also for supporting the work of the ACC. She briefly introduced series of activities held this year in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations, Year of Educational Exchange and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Centre. She said that in the field of education, Jiangsu and ASEAN countries had carried out a lot of activities with fruitful results. Thus, ACC would continue to strengthen communication with Jiangsu and to promote education exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN for new achievements.

Director-General Shen Jian said Jiangsu Province had a tradition of respecting teachers and paying much attention to education. At present, there were about 14,000 schools of all types at all levels with 13 million students in the province. The quality and the overall level of comprehensive strength of education were among the top of the country. In recent years, Jiangsu and ASEAN countries had enhanced education cooperation and achieved positive results. The cooperation channels had been broadened. The number of trained students and teachers had been enlarged, The ability to serve oversea Chinese enterprises had been continuously improved. Jiangsu Province would continue to align its education development according to the need of the general development and reform situation of the province, to pursue innovative development of education, and to optimize Jiangsu-ASEAN vocational education exchange platform among others. He wished to continue to be supported by ACC, and make good use of the platform through jointly organized activities in order to play a bigger role in strengthening ASEAN-China practical cooperation in education.
