ACC Participated in the 39th SEAMEO High Officials Meeting

On 16 November 2016, the 39th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization High Officials Meeting (SEAMEO HOM) was kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand. Around 120 participants including high officials from the Ministries of Education of SEAMEO member states, representatives from SEAMEO associate members and affiliate members, and observers from partner organizations of SEAMEO attended the event. H. E. General Dapong Ratanasuwan, Minister of Education of Thailand, and Dr. Gatot Hari Priowirjanto, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat. delivered welcoming remarks and opening speeches. Ms. Zhang Jing, Education Officer of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), participated in the meeting and made the presentation. 

In her presentation, Ms. Zhang Jing highlighted ACC’s collaboration with SEAMEO and its regional centres and networks, especially fruitful outcomes achieved in the ASEAN-China Year of Educational Exchanges in 2016. She also briefed on ACC’s work programmes of 2017 in education, including the future cooperation with SEAMEO.

SEAMEO HOM is the forerunner of the annual SEAMEO Council Conference, which is convened annually by the SEAMEO Secretariat ever since 1978 to review and plan the programmes and operations of the organization. ACC, as the observer of SEAMEO, has participated in its HOM ever since the partnership established in 2013. With the facilitation of ACC, China Education Association of International Exchange (CEAIE) became the affiliated member of SEAMEO in 2015 and sent representatives to attend the HOM for the first time in 2016.
