From 29 November to 1 December 2016, in cooperation with the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT) of Lao PDR, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) held the Tourism Seminar on China-Ready in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
On 30 November 2016, Mr. Vilaythong SIXANONH, Director of Institute of Mass Media, Culture and Tourism of MICT, and Ms. Kong Roatlomang, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism of ACC opened the seminar and delivered the remarks of H.E. Ountouang KHAOPAHN, Deputy Minister of MICT and H.E. Mme Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ACC respectively. The seminar was attended by more than 100 participants from tourism industry, stakeholders, tourism associations, immigration officials, tourist polices, and tourism officers.
This Tourism Seminar aimed to deepen Lao tourism stakeholders’ understanding of the Chinese market, so as to provide better service to the Chinese tourists and promote ASEAN-China tourism cooperation. Five experts from Guilin Tourism University invited by ACC shared their expertise on the following aspects: 1. China from the Perspective of a Global Tourism Destination; 2. Consumption Behavior of Chinese Tourists; 3. Tourist Product Design and Case Study; 4. Tourism Market Development and Tourism E-Commerce of China; and 5. Getting Your Share, Are you China-Ready.
The seminar has also brought in-depth and interactive discussions and shared views and perspectives among participants which resulted in constructive and fruitful outcomes.
At the sidelines of the event, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism of ACC met with relevant senior officials of MICT to exchange views on tourism and education cooperation. The meeting recognized the importance of ongoing capacity building programme, promoting ASEAN tourism destination in China, conducting a Familiarization Trip, translating promotional materials into Chinese language, student exchange programme, as well as Chinese language training course.
