On 5 December 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with Mr. Jiang Yinsheng, Vice Mayor of Dongyang City. Mr. Sun Jianhua, Deputy Director of Education, Culture and Tourism of ACC, attended the meeting.

Mr. Jiang welcomed Mme. Yang Xiuping to visit Dongyang to attend the 2016 ASEAN-China Workshop on Cooperation for Cultural Production Capacity and thanked ACC for serving as a bridge to promote cooperation in cultural production capacity between Dongyang and ASEAN. He quoted that Dongyang is a historic city famed for its education, architecture, wood carving and bamboo weaving, and  film and television production. While doing an impressive job in conserving and inheriting its cultural heritage, Dongyang has created a comprehensive cultural industrial system embracing arts and crafts, film and TV production, leisure, entertainment and showbiz and cultural tourism.  Hengdian World Studios located in Dongyang, nicknamed "Chinawood", is the world's largest filming base in terms of the area occupied. Cultural industry has indeed become a new growth point and a pillar of Dongyang's economy. Dongyang was happy to see over 50 government officials and filmmakers from ASEAN countries at the Workshop.

Dongyang will take this opportunity to extend its influence and contribute to promote ASEAN-China exchanges and cooperation in culture, film industry and tourism.

Mme. Yang Xiuping thanked to Dongyang for its support to the Workshop and briefed on ACC's mandates and efforts  to promote cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation. She said that China and ASEAN countries are close neighbours that enjoy a long history of friendship and rich cultural resources. They are also  blessed with huge potentials for the development of cultural industry. ACC will continue to play its role as a one-stop information and activities centre in serving as a bridge to link China's provinces and cities with ASEAN countries for cooperation in cultural industry, and setting up more platforms to boost people-to-people exchanges and alignment of projects between ASEAN and China.
