ACC Secretary-General Visited the Proposed Construction of Pulau Muara Besar Bridge of CHEC

On 13 August 2017, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) paid a visit to the proposed construction of Pulau Muara Besar Bridge (PMB Project) conducted by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) and exchanged views with Mr. Dong Yan, Managing Director of the company, Mr. Zhang Shuaijun, Project Director and Mr. Wu Wei, Administration Manager of the Project. Mrs. Wang Yan, Head of Political and Cultural Section of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei accompanied the visit. 

Managing Director Dong Yan briefed on the overall condition of the project, and said the project is progressing smoothly. Adhering to the goal of win-win cooperation, CHEC is committed to well organization, safe production and high quality. In addition, CHEC fulfills its social responsibility, actively takes part in local charity and makes contributions to social organizations such as Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei and Pusat Ehsan, which are warmly welcomed by the local community. CHEC would continue to advance the projects undertaken in ASEAN countries and make its own contributions to ASEAN-China practical cooperation. In this regard, CHEC hoped to get continuous support from ACC.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of CHEC's great efforts made and positive results achieved in advancing the infrastructure construction of Brunei. She commended that CHEC actively contributed to the local community while committed to make the PMB project an excellent project. These were appreciated by the locals and set good image of Chinese company. She encouraged CHEC to continue to carry out safe production, abide by the local laws and customs to complete the project soundly and timely, and benefit the locals.

The PMB Bridge with a length of 5,915 meters links up Pulau Muara Besar and Muara Port, which will be the first giant cross-sea bridge in Brunei and play an important role in advancing the city development of Brunei and exploiting the oil and gas in Daerah Muara.
