ACC Secretary-General Attended the Welcome Event of the 12th China (Sanya) International Orchid Show

On 11 January 2018, the 12th China (Sanya) International Orchid Show held a welcome event. H.E. Mme. Jiang Zehui, Vice Chair of the Committee of Population, Resources & Environment of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of China Flower Association, Mr. Li Jinsong, Vice Mayor of Sanya Municipal Government, Mme. Liu Hong, Secretary-General of China Flower Association, Mr. Li Yucai, Honorary President of Hainan Orchid Association, Mr. Liu Shirong, Party Secretary of International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR), and foreign and domestic participants, representatives of exhibitors participated in the event. H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC),was invited to attend.

Vice Mayor Li stated in his remarks that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed rural vitalization and industrial vitalization strategies. Under the supports of China Forestry Administration and China Flower Association, Sanya Municipal Government fully taps the potential of natural resources and vigorously develops orchid industries combining with the tourism industries. Since 2006, Sanya has held 11 sessions of China (Sanya) International Orchid Show which has become a well-known brand of orchid show, and an important exchange platform for world orchid industries. With orchid as a medium, the Show not only promotes the development of Hainan orchid industry, helps gardeners to make wealth, but also raises the development level of Chinese orchid industries and provides an international exchange platform for the orchid industries of Hainan and Sanya. This year’s Show will fully demonstrate the orchid resources of the world and current development level of orchid industries, promote exchanges and cooperation in orchid between Sanya, Hainan and the rest of the world. It aims to make greater contribution to Chinese orchid industrial development, and bring a bright spot to Sanya’s building of being world class international coastal tourism city.

The 12th China (Sanya) International Orchid Show is hosted by Sanya Municipal Government and Hainan Orchid Association, organized by Forestry Department of Sanya, Sanya Boying Tropical Orchid Company, and supported by China Flower Association. Under the theme of “Beautiful Flowers Connect the Silk Road, Orchid Fragrance Pervades the Whole World”, this year’s Show has attracted around 130 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions to demonstrate over 50,000 orchids and related art works. Associations and exhibitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam were invited to participate in the Show.
