ACC Secretary-General Met with Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN

On 29 March 2018, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with H.E. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN and exchanged views on ASEAN-China practical cooperation. Ms. Fifi Anggraini Arif, Senior Official of ASEAN Secretariat, and Mr. Zhang Xuehai, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC, were present.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping thanked Deputy Secretary-General Hoang Anh Tuan for attending the International Symposium on Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership, and expressed her appreciation to ASEAN Secretariat for its long-time support and assistance to ACC. She briefed on ACC’s recent work and said that in line with the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership and the ASEAN-China Year of Innovation, ACC is actively implementing 21 flagship programmes as approved by the Joint Council, making vigorous efforts to promote cordial exchanges and cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, culture, tourism as well as information and media. ASEAN-China relations are at an important stage connecting the past and the future. ACC would like to strengthen communication and coordination with ASEAN Secretariat to jointly make greater contributions to enhancing the comprehensive development of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership.

Deputy Secretary-General Hoang Anh Tuan congratulated on the success of the symposium and spoke highly of the numerous and effective efforts made by ACC to promote ASEAN-China relations. He said that as important strategic partners, ASEAN and China kept a good momentum of development. Both sides have undertaken remarkable cooperation in the fields of political security, trade and investment as well as people-to-people exchanges and formed an all-round cooperation framework. As an important year for both sides, ASEAN and China would hold a series of colourful activities to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership and the ASEAN-China Innovation Year in 2018, which would inject new impetus to the development of the bilateral relations. He said ASEAN Secretariat attaches great importance to the ASEAN-China relations and is willing to continue to keep close contact with ACC, and jointly push forward the bilateral cooperation to achieve more outcomes.
