On 16 March 2018, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with H.E. Mr. Lyu Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Thailand. Mr. Yang Xin, Minister Counsellor of Chinese Embassy, Ms. Guo Bin, Director of Information and Public Diplomacy Division of Chinese Embassy, and Mr. Zhang Xuehai, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC, were also present.
Ambassador Lyu Jian briefed on China-Thailand relations and the Embassy’s efforts to promote China-Thailand as well as China-ASEAN relations. He said that China and Thailand are traditional friendly neighbours. Both countries are in a critical period of socio-economic development. The practical cooperation between both sides has achieved fruitful results and entered a new period of upgrading. China-Thailand relations are facing broad prospects. As an inter-governmental organization co-founded by 10 ASEAN Member States and China, ACC organized a series of colourful activities, which played an important role in deepening ASEAN-China relations. The Embassy would continue to support ACC’s work and strengthen communication with ACC to jointly advance the China-Thailand and China-ASEAN relations.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of the effective work of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand in advancing Thailand-China and ASEAN-China relations. She thanked the Embassy for its continued strong support to ACC. She briefed on ACC’s work and said that 2018 marks the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership as well as the ASEAN-China Year of Innovation. ACC is actively implementing 21 flagship projects as approved by the Joint Council of ACC to promote the friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between both sides. Thailand is a founding member of ASEAN and plays an important role in ASEAN-China relations. ACC would continue to play its bridging role, join hands with the Embassy to elevate Thailand-China and ASEAN-China cooperation to a new height.
