ACC Organized Female Diplomats of ASEAN Embassies in China and Foreign Ministry of China to Visit Soong Ching Ling Children's Science and Technology Museum

On 8 March 2018, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation co-organized female diplomats of ASEAN Embassies in China and Foreign Ministry of China to visit Soong Ching Ling Children's Science and Technology Museum. Attended the event were Mdm. Lee Seow Hong, the spouse of Singaporean Ambassador to China, Ms. Lee Kok Ting, Charge d’Affaires of Bruneian Embassy in China, and representatives of female diplomats from embassies of Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam, totaling over 40 participants. 

Ms. Huang Ying, Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division of ACC, extended her festive greetings to all female diplomats present on the occasion of Women’s Day. She mentioned that this year marks the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership and the ASEAN-China Year of Innovation. The visit organized by ACC was aimed at raising ASEAN female diplomats’ understanding of the current situation of China’s children protection and education affairs and enhancing the communication and friendship between ASEAN and Chinese female diplomats. Soong Ching Ling Children's Science and Technology Museum features good environment, advanced facilities and colourful activities, all of which are impressive and demonstrate the great importance of China’s government attaches to children. She believed the Museum will play an important role in increasing China’s children science and technology education and international exchanges and cooperation.

Mdm. Lee Seow Hong thanked ACC and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation for the considerate organization and thoughtful arrangements. She cited that children are the future and hope for national development. ASEAN countries pay great attention to cultivating their children’s scientific and technological innovation capabilities. The visit gave deep impression to ASEAN participants. It’s hoped that both sides could join hands to promote the improvement of women and children welfares.

Mr. Li Qixiao, Deputy Secretary-General of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, extended warm welcomes to all participants. He briefed on the development process of the Foundation and its major work on women and children. He mentioned that the Foundation has been dedicated to further strengthening its exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries. He hoped the Foundation could join hands with all parties to promote friendly exchanges between China and all ASEAN countries, promote mutual understanding between peoples, and make new contributions to an international environment of peace and prosperity. 

During the event, all participants visited innovative and interesting facilities and projects such as theatre of future, innovator space, robot DIY, mechanical city and 2D world, and experienced Chinese culture through making Chinese traditional medicine and flower arts under the guidance of experts. The atmosphere was filled with happiness. All female diplomats appreciated the event which let them spend a delightful festival.
