Delegation of Representatives of ASEAN Embassies in China Carried out Field Visits in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region

From 3 to 6 June 2018, delegation of representatives of ASEAN embassies in China carried out filed visits in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region including the liquid milk production base of Yili Group, Baotou Rare Earth Exhibition Hall, the Mining Truck Industrial Park of North Hauler Joint Stock Co. Ltd. and visited tourism facilities such as the Ordos Grassland. H.E. Mr. Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), and representatives from Embassies of Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam joined the visit.

On 4 June, accompanied by Mr. Xu Ke, Vice President of Yili Group, the delegation visited the liquid milk production base of Yili Group. According to the introduction, covering an area of more than 130 mu, with 18 world-class production lines, the base mainly produces Yili pure milk and milk drink series products with daily treatment of 2,000 tons of fresh milk. It is not only the largest liquid milk production base with high robotization and scale in China, but also one of the largest dairy production bases in Asia characterized by high robotization, digitalization, large-scale and garden style. The delegation visited the exhibition hall, production line, and exchanged views with base staff and fully learned about the history, brand concept, quality control standards, international cooperation, innovative ideas and Yili’s series of products.

On 5 June, the delegation visited Erdos Kangbashi new zone, Mausoleum of Genghis Khan and relevant grassland tourism facilities, through which the delegation had in-depth understanding of the history, folk customs of Mongolian ethnic group and grassland culture. The delegation expressed great interest in the development of Ordos grassland tourism, especially with ASEAN countries, and discussed on how to attract more visitors from ASEAN.

On 6 June, the delegation visited the Rare Earth Exhibition Hall of China North Rare Earth Group High Tech Co. Ltd. based in Baotou City. Mr. Hu Zhengbing, member of the Standing Committee of Baotou CPCCommittee and Vice Mayor of Baotou accompanied the delegation. The exhibition librarian briefed about the history, current situation, development achievements and plan of Baotou rare earth industry.Rare earth is widely used in fields such as metallurgy, petrochemical industry, military, glass ceramics, agriculture, digital products, green energy, health industry, water purification and transportation. China has become a major rare earth power in the world for its reserve and consumption of rare earth resource both ranking the first in the world. China North Rare Earth Group will give full play to its unique advantage and build itself into a leading force in the industry as “Best in China, Leading in the World”.

On the same day, the delegation visited the Mining Truck Industrial Park of North Hauler Joint Stock Co. Ltd. Vice Mayor Mr. Hu Zhengbing and Ms. Li Yanhong, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee and Mr. Dong Guojun, Head of the International Sales Department of North Hauler Corporation accompanied the delegation. North Hauler Corporation is engaged in research & development, production and sales of off-road mining vehicles and their components, with the only state-level engineering research center on mining vehicles in China. Its technology is leading in China and has reached advanced level in the world. With a capacity of producing 1,000 mining vehicles a year, its products are exported to numerous countries and regions in the world including Myanmar, Viet Nam and Lao PDR, and widely used in mining industry such as metallurgy, coal, and nonferrous mines.

After the visit, representatives of the delegation all commented that the visit was rich in content and provided an unforgettable experience. Through the visit to Hohhot, Erdos and Baotou, the delegation further understood the long history, rich resources, unique grassland culture, and the fruitful achievements of the opening-up cooperation of Inner Mongolia in areas of industry, agriculture, tourism and technology innovation. The delegation expressed their appreciation to ACC on its meticulous efforts organizing the visit. The embassies will continue to play bridging roles to push forward exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN including their respective countries and Inner Mongolia in trade and investment, tourism, education and culture, and make more contribution to ASEAN-China local practical cooperation.
