ACC Secretary-General Attended the 15th CAEXPO and the 15th CABIS

From 10 to 13 September 2018, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) attended the 15th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the 15th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

On the morning of 12 September 2018, the opening ceremony of the 15th CAEXPO and the 15th CABIS was held at Nanning International Exhibition and Convention Center. H.E. Mr. Han Zheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council of China attended the opening ceremony and delivered keynote remarks. H.E. Mr. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, H.E. U Myint Swe, Vice President of Myanmar, H.E. Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam, H.E. Mr. Somdy Douangdy, Deputy Prime Minister of Lao PDR and H.E. Mr. Amb. Seif Ali Iddi, Second Vice President of Zanzibar of the United Republic of Tanzania also addressed the audience. Mr. Han Zheng said in his remarks that over the past 15 years since the establishment of the strategic partnership, China and ASEAN have developed a profound friendship and made fruitful achievements in mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed five years ago, the two sides have advanced more firmly on the path of building a community with a shared future of common ideals, prosperity, and responsibility. China-ASEAN relations have become the most successful and dynamic relationship in Asia-Pacific regional cooperation. China will work together with ASEAN to develop a higher-level strategic partnership and head for a closer community with a shared future.

During his stay in Nanning, Secretary-General Chen Dehai also attended such activities as the welcoming dinner of the 15th CAEXPO and CABIS, the 13th ASEAN-China Cultural Forum, Forum & Council Meeting of China-ASEAN University (Country and Regional Studies) Think-Tank Network, the Awarding Ceremony and Gala Dinner in Commemoration of the 15th CABIS, Launch of the Cultural Documentary DAN’s WAY and the China-ASEAN Cross-border E-commerce Cooperation Forum. He toured the 15th CAEXPO exhibitions and visited the pavilions of ASEAN countries and the ACC booth. He also exchanged views with participants of the CAEXPO & CABIS, and gave interviews to China News, Guangxi TV, Guangxi Radio and Nanning TV on ASEAN-China relations as well as ACC’s efforts to promote practical cooperation in various fields.
