From 25 to 28 October 2018, 2018 China-ASEAN Expo Tourism Exhibition and related activities were successfully held in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Around 800 enterprises from over 50 countries and regions participated in the Exhibition. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the activities and delivered remarks. During the Exhibition, ACC hosted the 2nd ASEAN-China Tourism Festival, ASEAN-China Tourism Forum and other related activities. An ACC booth was set up at the Exhibition to promote the tourism resources of the ASEAN countries.
On 26 October, ACC successfully hosted the 2nd ASEAN-China Tourism Festival. Secretary-General Chen Dehai said in his remarks that the year 2018 marks the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China strategic partnership and ASEAN-China Year of Innovation, which provides a great opportunity to deepen the practical cooperation between China and ASEAN counties. The 2nd ASEAN-China Tourism Festival will further promote the development of ASEAN tourism destinations and strengthen regional cooperation. Meanwhile, it will play a positive role in promoting sustainable development of tourism, enhancing tourism products innovation and service quality. ACC will continue to play the role of one-stop information and activities centre and work with all partners to make greater contributions to ASEAN-China cooperation.
Mr.Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar said that the ASEAN-China Tourism Festival has achieved development on yearly basis. The business exchanges between ASEAN and Guangxi have significantly increased in recent years. People of both sides not only enjoy the benefits of economic prosperity derived from mutually beneficial cooperation, but also play their role in promoting culture, education, health, cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Myanmar is willing to deepen tourism cooperation with China and other ASEAN countries.
On the same day, ACC and China Tourism Academy (CTA) co-hosted ASEAN-China Tourism Forum with the theme of “Technology and Innovation Contributing to Sustainable Tourism Development”. Experts from the tourism industry and representatives of the ASEAN embassies in China shared their experiences and views on promoting ASEAN-China tourism cooperation and promoting sustainable development of tourism.
During his stay in Guilin, Secretary-General Chen Dehai paid a visit to Guilin Tourism University (GTU) where he learned about the teaching facilities and achievements of the University. He also met and had discussions with Ms. Lin Na, Party Secretary of GTU, Mr. Cheng Daopin, President of GTU, other leaders of the University as well as the representatives of ASEAN students.
