He said that China-Malaysia friendship has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and the two countries enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges. Malaysia is the first ASEAN Member State to establish diplomatic relations with China. It is among the first countries to participate in the joint building of the Belt and Road. It is also among the countries that benefited the most from the early-harvest cooperation results in jointly building the Belt and Road. China is committed to pursuing a friendly policy towards Malaysia. The two sides have a solid foundation in cooperation in such areas as trade and investment, connectivity, education, tourism, etc., which has produced fruitful outcomes.

Ambassador Bai Tian recalled the experience when he accompanied Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia to visit China in August 2018. He vividly depicted the pictures of Prime Minister Mahathir taking Chinese high speed train and touring Chinese enterprises. He said that the new government of Malaysia has clearly expressed its willingness and determination to strengthen friendly cooperation with China. China-Malaysia relations are embracing broad prospects in the new era. China stands ready to join hands with the new government of Malaysia, continue to deepen the political and strategic mutual trust, take the opportunity of jointly building the Belt and Road, expand the width and depth of the traditional cooperation, so as to realize common development through win-win cooperation and bring more benefits to the people. He encouraged the Chinese media to continue to cover stories about China-Malaysia friendly cooperation and contribute to a more productive China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.
