On 23 October 2018, the delegation of “Chinese Media Reporting Trip to ASEAN”, headed by Secretary-General Chen Dehai of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XUM).
Ms. Zhang Ying, Assistant President of XUM, briefed the delegation on the development of the university. She said that XUM is the first overseas branch of China’s “985 Universities”. Founded in 2015, XUM has set up five schools, namely information science and technology, ocean and environment, economy and management, Chinese language and culture, and medicine, with all courses taught in English. The university now has a total enrolment of about 4,000 students on campus. Xiamen University is making great strides towards its goal of building the XUM into a first-rate international university.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai appreciated the efforts and contributions made by XUM to promote education exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia. He hoped that joint efforts could be made with XUM to promote education exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
