On 28 December 2018, Secretary-General Chen Dehai of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of the National People’s Congress and Vice President of Institutes of Science and Development of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Mr. Li Haiyan, Secretary-General of Global Climate Action Initiative (GCAI). The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation with ASEAN countries in tackling climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving the goal of sustainable economic and social development.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai said that addressing climate change and green development are the common needs of ASEAN and China. ACC will play an active role as a platform and bridge to support cooperation in this field by making full use of think tank resources to expand areas of cooperation and organize more projects that meet the development needs of China and ASEAN countries.
Mr. Zhang Jiqiang, Member of Advisory Committee of Climate Change and Green Development Special Fund of Tsinghua University, Mr. JinJiaman, Executive Director of Global Environmental Institute, Mme. Wang Hongliu, Director of General Affairs and Coordination of ACC and official from Trade and Investment Division of ACC attended the meeting.
