On 21 December 2018, Mr. Luo Qiang, Deputy Party Secretary of Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPC and Mayor of Chengdu met with Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and officials of diplomatic missions of ASEAN countries in China, and exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation between Chengdu and ASEAN countries. Ms. Liu Xiaoliu, Vice Mayor of Chengdu, Mr. Mao Zhixiong, Deputy Chief of Chengdu Municipal Cultural Administrative System Reform and Cultural Industry Development Leading Group and Mr. Zhou Xianyi, Secretary-General of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government were present.
Mayor Luo Qiang welcomed Secretary-General Chen and officials of ASEAN diplomatic missions, and briefed on the opening up of Chengdu to the outside world, in particular the friendly exchanges with ASEAN countries and put forward suggestions on further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Chengdu and ASEAN countries. He hoped that ACC could continue to support practical cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, education, culture between Chengdu and ASEAN countries, to strive for more mutually beneficial and win-win results.
Secretary-General Chen thanked Chengdu Municipal Government for its great support to ACC and said that Chengdu and ACC had maintained close partnership. The 2019 New Year’s Gala for ASEAN and Chinese University Students had brought Chengdu closer to the ASEAN countries. ACC would continue to support Chengdu’s friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with ASEAN countries, and jointly promote sustainable and in-depth development of ASEAN-China strategic partnership.
