ACC Attended the Investment Cooperation Working Meeting for the 16th China-ASEAN Expo

The Investment Cooperation Working Meeting for the 16th China-ASEAN Expo (hereinafter referred to as CAEXPO) was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on 13 March 2019. The meeting was co-hosted by the Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce of China and the CAEXPO Secretariat. Representatives of investment promotion departments of ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and investment promotion departments of provinces and cities in China attended the meeting. Mr. Li Yong, Deputy Director-General of Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce of China, said that over the past 15 years, the CAEXPO has established a convenient and efficient communication channel for investment promotion departments of China and ASEAN countries. As a result, the two sides have achieved remarkable outcomes in investment cooperation. China hopes to continue to work with ASEAN countries to organize investment promotion activities in the 16th CAEXPO.

Ms. Yang Yanyan, Deputy Secretary-General of CAEXPO Secretariat, said that the 16th CAEXPO will promote investment cooperation in a more practical and professional manner through a series of measures, such as restructuring the Secretariat, setting up investment promotion platforms for ASEAN countries and provinces and cities in China, etc.

Representatives of investment promotion departments of ASEAN Member States expressed willingness to continue close cooperation with China for smoother communication channels and more effective mechanisms for investment cooperation. They were ready to promote CAEXPO in their own countries so that it could benefit more enterprises in AMS, and to support and participate in the non-sessional promotion activities of CAEXPO and diversify how the two sides can work together. 

In the meeting, ACC representative gave a briefing on ACC and its work in the field of trade and investment. He said that ACC would continue to support and engage in relevant activities of the CAEXPO, and work with all parties to elevate the ASEAN-China economic cooperation to a new height.
