On 4 June 2019, Mr. Wan Zhengfeng, Deputy Mayor of Zhengzhou City, met with Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and Mr. U Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to China, and exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation between Zhengzhou City and ASEAN countries.
Deputy Mayor Wan Zhengfeng stressed that Zhengzhou is one of the eight ancient capital cities in China and it now serves as an important transportation hub and an emerging industrialized city. Zhengzhou is also included in the nine national central cities supported by the State. He hoped to take this opportunity to enhance mutual understanding with ASEAN countries and promote exchanges and cooperation.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai expressed gratitude to the Zhengzhou Municipal Government for its great support to ACC. He stressed that ACC hoped to build, through this visit, a “Beijing Channel” between ASEAN Member States and Zhengzhou City with the aim of fostering friendship, tapping potentials and pushing forward exchanges and cooperation in various areas.
Ambassador U Thit Linn Ohn appreciated the hospitality and thoughtful arrangements by the Zhengzhou Municipal Government for the visit. He said that the visit in Zhengzhou enabled him to better understand the economic and social development of the city. He expressed willingness to further practical cooperation between Myanmar and China’s local provinces and cities, within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, in such areas as infrastructure, logistics, transportation, tourism, manufacturing and human resource development.
Mr. Li Bing, Deputy Secretary-General of Zhengzhou Municipal Government, Mr. Zhang Shuchen, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhengzhou Municipality, Mr. Wu Ande, Deputy Director of Zhengzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau and Mr. Wang Zhiquan, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC attended the meeting.
