Vice Governor of Henan Province Met with ACC Secretary-General and Myanmar Ambassador to China (2019-06-03)

On 3 June 2019, Mr. He Jinping, Vice Governor of Henan Province, met with Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and Mr. U Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to China, in Zhengzhou City.

Vice Governor He Jinping said that, being China’s largest grain producer, a major economic engine, an emerging industrial province and a province with a large population and rich cultural heritages, Henan Province enjoys a favourable geographic location and has been actively taking part in the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years. A strategy spearheaded by opening-up has been implemented with focus on building four “Silk Roads”, namely “Silk Road in the Air”, “Land Silk Road”, “Cyber Silk Road” and “Maritime Silk Road”. Henan Province is willing to conduct in-depth exchanges and win-win cooperation with ASEAN countries in the areas of trade, culture, education, hygiene, agriculture, tourism, etc.

Secretary-General Chen Dehai expressed gratitude to the Henan Provincial Government for its long-term support to ACC. He briefed on ACC’s mandate and priority areas. He also stressed that ACC hopes to bridge ASEAN Member States with local provinces and cities throughout China by holding activities like the Lecture Series on ASEAN-China Relations by ASEAN diplomatic envoys, so as to deepen mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation in various areas.

Ambassador U Thit Linn Ohn expressed sincere thanks to the Henan Provincial Government for its warm welcome and hospitality. He opined that Myanmar and China have good relations and cooperation. The “Pauk-phaw” friendship has withstood the test of time and is growing stronger. Next year will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations. He looked forward to better understanding Henan Province through the visit and furthering practical cooperation with Henan in such areas as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, infrastructure and people-to-people exchanges.

Mr. Xue Yunwei, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Office of Henan Provincial Government, Mr. Wang Ziwen, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Henan Provincial Government, Mr. Diao Yuhua, Deputy Director-General of the Education Department of Henan Province, Mr. Han Guohe, Vice President of Zhengzhou University as well as Mr. Wang Zhiquan, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC attended the meeting.
