On 27 August 2019, the 10th ASEAN Connectivity Symposium was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The Symposium was hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and organised by the ASEAN Secretariat and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of Trade and Investment Division of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was invited to attend the event.
With the theme of "Connecting ASEAN through Financing Sustainable Infrastructure", the Symposium discussed three topics, namely: "Building Sustainable Infrastructure for Quality Growth", "Getting Private Sector on Board-What Would Make Infrastructure Attractive for Them" and "Funding Options for Infrastructure Development". Focusing on the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025, government officials, experts and scholars from ASEAN countries and representatives of regional cooperation organizations, financial institutions, enterprises as well as research institutions outside ASEAN made suggestions on the implementation of MPAC 2025 by ASEAN as a whole and by each individual country.
The outcome of the Symposium will be sent in the form of a report to the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee as a reference for future policy formulation and position coordination.
