The 2019 (20th) Hainan Island Carnival opened in Haikou, Hainan Province on 22 November 2019. It was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the People’s Government of Hainan Province for the first time.
Mr. Liu Cigui, Secretary of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People’s Congress, Mr. Shen Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province, Mr. Zhang Xu, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, Mr. Mao Wanchun, Chairman of Hainan Provincial CPPCC, Ms. Fu Caixiang, Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Ms. Akosita Lavulavu, Minister of Infrastructure and Tourism of the Kingdom of Tonga, ambassadors and representatives from diplomatic missions of Tonga, Iceland, Japan, ROK, Thailand and other countries, representatives of relevant provinces and cities in China were present at the opening ceremony of the event. ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai attended the opening ceremony and related activities in support of the event and had extensive exchange of views with local leaders and international guests.
The 2019 (20th) Hainan Island Carnival was held in the cities of Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning, Lingshui in Hainan Province. More than 200 activities were held throughout the Carnival, such as the Hainan Tourism Promotion, the 2nd ASEAN-China University Students’ Cultural Week, the 4th Hainan World Leisure Tourism Expo, the 5th Hainan World Tourism and Food Expo and the 4th Boao International Tourism Promotion Forum.
