On 27 November 2019, the 2nd China Healthcare Products Expo (CHEXPO ASEAN 2019) was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was hosted by Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) and co-organized by Trade Development Bureau (TDB) of Ministry of Commerce of China, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMHPIE) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Jiangsu Sub-Council. Around 200 participants attended the opening ceremony, including government officials from Indonesia and China, executives of business associations and enterprises as well as experts of medical and health care sectors from ASEAN countries and China, and representatives of international organizations. Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of Trade and Investment Division (TID) of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) attended the opening ceremony upon invitation.
Mr. Wang Liping, Minister Counsellor of Embassy of China in Indonesia said that China and Indonesia have great potential for cooperation in the field of health care. China’s increasingly advanced products and technologies are popular in the Indonesian market, and Chinese enterprises are investing in Indonesia which promotes the investment cooperation between the two countries. He hoped that all parties would continue to work together to make greater contributions to the medical and health care industries in China and Indonesia.
Mr. Wu Zhengping, Director General of TDB of MOFCOM said that as a professional platform of medical and health care in Southeast Asia, the CHEXPO ASEAN 2019 would help build good international images of Chinese enterprises and provide good opportunities and channels for the businessmen of Indonesian and other ASEAN countries to know more about Chinese brands and explore Chinese market.
General Agum Gumelar, member of Presidential Advisory Council said that in recent years, bilateral trade between Indonesia and China has kept rising while China’s medical technology is leading the world. He hoped that Chinese medical enterprises could help cultivate and develop their Indonesian peers while exploring the Indonesian market. He also hoped that the CHEXPO ASEAN 2019 would provide more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation of mutual benefits for the medical and health care sector of Indonesia and China.
Mr. Zhou Hui, President of CCCMHPIE said that China and Indonesia share a common vision in improving the health coverage of all the people of the two countries, which lays a solid foundation for all-round cooperation in this field. He hoped that the CHEXPO ASEAN 2019 would continue to facilitate the all-round cooperation between China and Indonesia as well as between China and ASEAN.
After the opening ceremony, the participants visited the exhibition area. Covering over 5000 square meters, the expo attracted more than 130 Chinese enterprises and a number of Indonesian enterprises promoting traditional health care products and medical equipments.
During his stay in Indonesia, Director Guo Chuanwei exchanged views with Ms. Fang Bing, Counsellor of the Mission of China to ASEAN and Mr. Huang Cheng, Director of ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund (ACCF) Management Team.
