On 10 November 2019, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), visited Fudan University in Shanghai with his delegation and exchanged views with Vice President Mr. Chen Zhimin on ASEAN-China relations as well as educational and cultural cooperation between the two sides. Ms. Yang Jian, former Chinese Ambassador to Brunei and now Director of the Center for China’s Relations with Neighboring Countries of Fudan University, Mr. Chen Jian, Director of the Student Career Development and Services Office, and Ms. Wang Hongliu, Director of the General Affairs and Coordination Division of ACC were present.
Vice President Chen Zhimin gave an introduction on the exchanges and cooperation between Fudan University and ASEAN countries, saying that Fudan University has dedicated itself to promoting education and research projects within the framework of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism by actively carrying out people-to-people exchanges and think tank cooperation with well-known universities in Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and other ASEAN countries. In the future, the university would like to cooperate closely with ACC to further expand exchanges and cooperation with its counterparts from the ASEAN countries.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai spoke highly of Fudan University's achievements in exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries. He said that deepening ASEAN-China educational exchanges and cooperation is one of the priorities of ACC. ACC would continue to play its role as a platform and make contributions to deepening exchanges and cooperation in education between the two sides.
After the meeting, Ms. Yang Jian accompanied Secretary-General Chen Dehai and his delegation to visit Handan Campus of Fudan University and the two sides exchanged views on each other’s work. They agreed to carry out further cooperation on the projects such as Lecture Series on ASEAN-China Relations, ASEAN-China Youth Exchanges and so on.
