On 16 January 2020, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with Mr. Thong Khon, Tourism Minister of Cambodia, while attending the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2020 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. Ms. Wang Hongliu, Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division and Ms. Kong Roatlomang, Director of Education, Culture and Tourism Division of ACC attended the meeting.
Minister Thong Khon praised the Cambodia-China friendship and thanked ACC for its positive role in promoting cooperation between Cambodia and China in various fields. He briefed on the outcomes of 2019 Cambodia-China Culture and Tourism Year and proposed initiatives of deepening tourism cooperation in the future. He was ready to continue cooperation with ACC on capacity building, gastronomy tourism, Chinese language training and exchanges of tourism professionals, so as to promote sustained development of Cambodia-China tourism cooperation.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai thanked Cambodia for its strong support to ACC, and briefly outlined the work plan of ACC in the field of tourism, as well as the key activities to echo the Cambodia-China Culture and Tourism year. He emphasized that ACC would continue to leverage its strength and carry out more activities to enhance practical cooperation in tourism between both sides, promote people-to-people exchanges and build a closer community with a shared future.
