ACC Attended the 2020 Yuxi Online Promotion of Development and Investment Cooperation

On 30 March 2020, at the invitation of the Yuxi Municipal People's Government of Yunnan Province, Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of the Trade and Investment Division of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the 2020 Yuxi Online Promotion of Development and Investment Cooperation and made remarks. Nearly 100 people took part, including representatives of Chinese and foreign enterprises and business associations, as well as government officials and business representatives of Yuxi.
At present, even though the COVID-19 outbreak is stabilizing in China, the situation abroad remains serious. Under such circumstances, the Yuxi Municipal Government is committed to innovating and optimizing the way of attracting investment by taking advantage of the Internet and conducting online promotion activities.
The main venue of the promotion was located in Yuxi, with parallel sessions in Shanghai and Changsha of China as well as UK and Singapore. The purposes of the event were to overcome the limits of time and space, enhance exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign investors and minimize the impact of the epidemic on investment promotion by means of cloud conference and live coverage. Mr. Xie Shiqing, Fist-level Counsel of Yuxi Municipal People's Government, said in his speech that Yuxi City, with its geographical advantages and rich resources, has been serving national strategies by promoting industrial development, attracting investment, recruiting talents and tapping new opportunities for exchanges and cooperation in the new era. Domestic and foreign entrepreneurs are warmly welcomed to visit and invest in Yuxi for common development.
Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of the Trade and Investment Division of ACC, mentioned that in the special period of fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic, all communities in ASEAN had expressed their firm support and belief in victory to the Chinese people in various forms. At the request of relevant countries, China had also provided assistance and support to ASEAN countries within its capabilities. Yuxi has unique advantages in carrying out economic, trade and investment cooperation with ASEAN. And ACC is willing to assist Yuxi City to cooperate with ASEAN countries, share opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative and achieve complementary development by deepening cooperation in various fields including trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
Mr. Tang Degen, Director-General of Shanghai Industrial Cooperation Promotion Centre, said that the urban planning and development of Shanghai could bring opportunities for Yuxi to undertake the industrial transfer of Shanghai. The two cities could strengthen cooperation and carry out systematic cooperation in industrial park planning, integrated investment promotion and other aspects.
The location advantages, industrial layout, business environment and investment projects of Yuxi City were well promoted at the event, with focuses on key fields and industries such as green food, healthy life destination, green energy, intelligent manufacturing, scientific and educational innovation, digital economy and biomedical industry.
Entrepreneurs from UK and Singapore exchanged views online with Yuxi government representatives and expressed wishes to strengthen cooperation and expand business opportunities. Three relevant projects were signed at the cloud platform.
