ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai Led a Delegation to Visit JD Headquarters

On 1 September 2020, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), led a delegation to visit JD headquarters in Beijing and held discussions with the latter. Heads of all ACC divisions participated in relevant activities.

 

 

Mr. Yan Xiaobing, Senior Vice President of JD.com Inc, President of JD 3C & Home Appliance and Head of Southeast Asian Affairs Department, briefed on the development history and business operations of JD. In recent years, with a goal of expanding its business overseas, JD has increased investment and made progress in ASEAN markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. He looks forward to strengthening exchanges and collaboration with ACC to deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries. Heads of JD Worldwide, JD Logistics, JD Retails, JD Digits, and JD Industry Development departments also gave a snapshot of their respective functions and performance.

 

Secretary-General Chen Dehai said that ASEAN has always been a priority in China's neighborhood diplomacy, and is also a priority region in the BRI international cooperation. In recent years, ASAEN and China have deepened their political mutual trust, and fostered stronger economic ties and more extensive people-to-people exchanges. In particular, since the beginning of this year, ASEAN and China have been working together to fight the COVID-19 epidemic and restore regional economic activities. ASEAN-China trade volume has scored a trend-bucking surge of growth, and ASEAN has become China's largest trading partner, indicating huge potential for cooperation. In 2020, which marks the Year of ASEAN-China Digital Economy Cooperation, the two sides will foster more new growth areas for cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, scientific and technological innovation and other areas. As a leading E-commerce enterprise in China, JD has achieved great success to the amazement of the Chinese nation and beyond, and enjoys favorable conditions for expanding the market in ASEAN under the current circumstances. As an inter-governmental organization co-founded by ASEAN Member States and China, ACC is ready to facilitate business expansion efforts by JD and other Chinese high-tech enterprises in ASEAN to the best of its capability so as to contribute to ASAEN-China practical cooperation.

 

 

The delegation also had a guided tour around JD home, JD self-service supermarket, JD vision, JD corporate cultural exhibition hall and JD virtual command centre, during which they learnt about the company's history of development and the latest achievements in unmanned delivery technology, warehousing and logistics, intelligent solutions, immersive shopping experience, etc..
