On 17 September 2020, Mr. Wang Shijie, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province met with the Chinese and foreign guestsattending the 2020 ASEAN-China (Guiyang) Belt and Road Culture and Tourism Exchange Week, and exchanged views on deepening exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the ASEAN countries and Guizhou. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) attended the meeting.
On behalf of GuizhouProvincial People’s Government, Vice Governor Wang Shijie expressed warm welcometo all the guests from home and abroad. He briefed on Guizhou’s latest effortsin containing the COVID-19 pandemic and revitalizing socioeconomic development. He said that under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, by giving fullplayto its advantages in natural resources, big data industry and its geographic location as one of the important hubs and nodal regions along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Guizhou Province has mapped out a series of effective socioeconomic strategies and measures and enjoys speedy development in recent years. Since the beginning of this year, Guizhou Province has been keeping a tight grip on epidemic prevention and control, ensuring economic growth and people’s livelihood, and making solid progress in poverty alleviation and revitalizing socio-economy development. Wang said the traditional friendship and win-win cooperation between ASEAN and China are time-honored and deep-rooted. He welcomed guests from all sides to explore business opportunities in this promising land of Guizhou. He also expressed profound thanks to ACC, the diplomatic missions of the ASEAN Member States in China and other relevant parties for their support to Guizhou’s socioeconomic development.
Mr. Raja Dato’ Nushirwan, Malaysian Ambassador to China and Secretary-General Chen Dehai extended their heartfelt thanks to the host for the hospitality and considerate arrangements, and gave their warmest congratulations upon the successful opening of the Culture and Tourism Exchange Week and the achievements of Guizhou in containing the pandemic and revitalizing socioeconomic development. They promised to make joint efforts to help strengthen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between ASEAN and Guizhou.
Mr. Adama Compaore, Burkina Faso Ambassador to China, Mr. Dumitru Braghis, Moldovan Ambassador to China, Mr. Dusan Bella, Slovakian Ambassador to China, Mr. Chen Yan, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Guiyang City, and Madam Wei Dingmei, Deputy Mayor of Guiyang City also joined the above meeting. Afterwards, the guests toured the booths of the Import and Export Expo, which was one of the major highlights of the Exchange Week.
