ASEAN countries can learn from China's successful efforts in poverty alleviation, said Arianto Surojo, director of the Information and Public Relations Division of the ASEAN-China Center, at an online conference on Monday.
Media professionals and experts from China and ASEAN countries explored China's poverty alleviation program, as well as discussed future cooperation, at the conference.
"In this respect, the media could serve as an important bridge for friendly exchanges and people-to-people connectivity," he said at the event covering ASEAN media views of China's anti-poverty campaign.
The media is playing an even bigger role in promoting practical cooperation between ASEAN and China by facilitating multiple flows of information and learning, according to Surojo.
"Over the years, ASEAN and China have worked closely together in poverty reduction and made impressive progress by organizing regular and annual anti-poverty events and projects," he said. "The two sides have built up an effective multi-level mechanism for exchanges and cooperation in this field."
"We have good reason to believe that ASEAN and China's good relationship will continue to bring tangible benefits to the 2 billion people living in the region," he added.
