Preparatory Meeting for 2021 Online Briefings on Enrollment Policies of Chinese Universities towards AMS Held by ACC

On April 14 2021, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) held aPreparatory Meeting for the Programme of 2021 Online Briefings on Enrollment Policies of Chinese Universities towards ASEAN Member States (AMS). More than 30 representatives attended the meeting, including education officials from embassies of Indonesia, the Lao PDR, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand as well as directors and staffs from 9 Chinese universities.Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ACC, addressed the opening, and Ms. Zhou Hui, Deputy Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division of ACC chaired the meeting.  

Secretary-General Chen Dehai stated that the purpose of  this programme is to promote educational exchanges between China and AMS, deepen mutual understandings, and help ASEAN students who wish to study in China, and their parents  to obtain more comprehensive, authentic and timely information about studying in China. 

During the preparatory meeting, officials from Shandong University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, East China Normal University, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Hainan Tropical Ocean University, Shenyang University of Chemical Technology and College of Chinese and ASEAN Arts of Chengdu University, respectively introduced the basic information,characteristic disciplines and latest enrollment policies of their university. All university representatives have expressed their positive willingness to strengthen educational exchanges and cooperation with AMS. 

Ms. Natthira Krasaesarn, Minister Counsellor of the Thai Embassy in China, Ms. Pasupha Chinvarasopak, MinisterCounsellor of Science and Education from the Thai Embassy in China, Mr. Yaya Sutarya, Education Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in China, Mr. Phoxay Thepvilayvong, Education Counsellor of the Lao Embassy in China, Mr Tang Jui Piow, First Secretary for Education Section of the Singaporean Embassy in China, and Mr. Allen Carillo, Third Secretary and Vice Counsellor of the Philippine Embassy in China, expressed their gratitude to ACC for organizing this event. They said that AMS attach great importance to educational cooperation and exchanges with China and hoped that more AMS students will come study in China, passing on ASEAN-China friendship from generation to generation. The two sides also had an in-depthdiscussions on the details of the upcoming formalonline briefings.
