ACC Representatives Attended the 11th China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum &Exhibition

On 20 May 2021, co-hosted by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Ministry of Natural Resourcesof China, the 11th China-ASEANMining Cooperation Forum &Exhibition (CAMCF) was held in Nanning.

Mr. Huang Shiyong, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangxi and Vice Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr. Ling Yueming, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of China, Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of Indonesia to China, and Mr. Myo Thant Pe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. About 500 people attended the forum, including consuls-general of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Thailand in Nanning, commercial counsellors of Embassies of Lao PDR and Myanmar in China, commercial consul of the Consulate-General of the Philippines in Guangzhou, representatives of international institutions, as well as leaders of business associations, experts and entrepreneurs. Mr. Guo Chuanwei, Director of the Trade and Investment Division of the ASEAN China Centre (ACC), attended the activities.

Vice Chairman Huang Shiyong extended warm welcome to both domestic and foreign guests. He mentioned that the CAMCF has gone through a 10-year development and has achieved fruitful results. Guangxi will continue to promote investment facilitation, management modernization and trade liberalization in the mining field. It will jointly build closer partnerships for green mining development and usher in a new pattern of mining development and cooperation with ASEAN Member States (AMS) and countries along the BRI route.

Vice Minister Ling Yuemingemphasized that China will continue to expand the opening-up of mining and continuously improving business environmentand advancing new achievements in mining and geological cooperation. Under the current situation, it is necessary for countries to make full use of their mining factor endowments and industrial advantages into full play, promote the optimization and improvement of regional economic and trade rules, and ensure the safety and stability of the mining industry chains and supply chains.

Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun introduced the cooperation between Indonesia and China in the fields of energy, mining, digital economy and industrial park construction, expressing his full confidencein deepening bilateral cooperation in mining.

Ambassador Myo Thant Pe mentioned that Myanmar and China adhere to the concept of win-win cooperation in energy, chemistry, oil and natural gas. The China-Myanmar Oil and Gas Pipeline is an important program under the framework of BRI cooperation, which plays a good role in promoting the constructionof the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and the strengthening of ASEAN-China connectivity.

At the opening ceremony, representatives from China Mining Association, Aluminum Corporation of China, China National Gold Group and other mining business associations and leading enterprises gave speeches on international cooperation in green mining and latest environment-friendly protection technologies and products.

The CAMCF is one of the important events under the framework of the China-ASEAN Expo. With the theme of “Building the Belt and Road, Strengthening Green Mining”,theforumincluded 14 major activities,includingthe Forum of Directors General of Geo-sciences Department, Seminar on Policies and Practices for the Green Development of Mining Transformation and Upgrading, Seminar on Green Mining Enterprise Development, Seminar on Mining Law and Policy as well as Special Mining Promotion for Malaysia and Lao PDR. The forum aims at enhancing and expanding the mining cooperation between China, AMS and countries along the Belt and Road route.
