From July 16 to 18, 2022, hosted by the Wuling Mountain Cultural Tourism Development Alliance and co-hosted by Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission and the Government of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, the 2022 China Wuling Cultural Tourism Summit was held in Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, Chongqing.
Mr. Dan Yanzheng, Vice Mayor of Chongqing, Mr. Peng Guofu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, Mr. He Li, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial People’s Congress, Mr. Zhang Weiguo, Vice Chairman of the Hubei Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Mr. Ma Feng, DG-level inspector of the Industrial Development Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, attended the opening ceremony. Diplomatic envoys of the Consulates General of Chile, the Netherlands, Italy, Cambodia, Myanmar, Viet Nam and other countries in China participated in relevant activities. Experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from all over the country gathered to pool wisdom on the development of cultural tourism of the Wuling Mountain. Ms. Li Yaying, Deputy Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the summit upon invitation and had an extensive exchange of views with participants on promoting regional coordinated development through culture and tourism integration as well as ASEAN-China tourism cooperation.
The theme of this summit is “Mountains and rivers sharing the same origin, with Wuling sharing the same dream”. At the opening ceremony, the platform for marketing and promotion of Wuling cultural tourism was officially launched. Hubei Province, Hunan Province, Guizhou Province and Chongqing signed the China Wuling Cultural Tourism Destination Co-construction Plan. During the summit, many other activities were also held, including the board meeting of the Wuling Mountain Cultural Tourism Development Alliance, summit forums, the promotion of major cultural tourism projects in the Wuling Mountain, and the signing of investment attraction projects.
The Wuling mountains are adjacent to four provinces, namely Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou and Chongqing, and cover many famous mountains and rivers with diverse ethnic cultures and rich intangible cultural heritage. They are not only national cultural and ecological protection pilot areas, but also important areas for tourism development. The Wuling Mountain Cultural Tourism Development Alliance aims to integrate regional culture and tourism resources, promote regional complementary advantages, strengthen cooperation for coordinated development, and accelerate the building of the Wuling Mountain region into a nationally renowned ecological folk culture tourism destination.
