ACC Secretary-General Chen Dehai Attended Second China (Qinghai) International Ecological Expo

On 22 July 2022, with the theme of “Green Development through Openness and Cooperation”, the 23rd Qinghai China Investment and Trade Fair for Green Development and the Second China (Qinghai) International Ecological Expo opened in Xining. Mr. Ding Zhongli, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, delivered a video speech. Mr. Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Qinghai Provincial People’s Congress, delivered remarks. Mr. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, addressed the opening ceremony via video. Mr. Tan Zuojun, Vice Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Mr. Han Xia, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Mr. Zhang Shenfeng, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Mr. Massimo Bagnasco, Vice President of European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, delivered speeches. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), attended the opening ceremony.

on the afternoon of 22 July, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Week 2022 and Forum on Lancang-Mekong Region Eco-tourism Cooperation was held in Xining, with the theme of “Green Lancang-Mekong Our Beautiful Homeland—To Build a High-Standard Model City of International Eco-tourism Destination”. Mr. Wang Fukang, Ambassador of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mr. Meng Xianlin, Director-General of Department of International Cooperation of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Mr. Kong Lingdong, Mayor of Xining Municipal Government, and Ms. Ma Naixin, Deputy Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office of Qinghai Province, delivered speeches. Mr. U Myo Thant Pe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ACC, representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy and the Embassy of Lao PDR in China, as well as representatives of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Academic of Social Sciences and Xining Tourism Society, delivered remarks on the theme of the forum.

Secretary-General Chen Dehai said in his remarks that Lancang-Mekong Cooperation is the first new sub-regional cooperation mechanism involving the six countries along the Lancang-Mekong River, which has established itself as a “golden model” of regional cooperation. Cultural and tourism exchanges are instrumental in Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Qinghai Province can make full use of its advantages in ecological, cultural and tourism resources to expand ecological cooperation with the five Mekong countries and promote Lancang-Mekong Cooperation to a new level.

On the morning of 23 July, under the theme of “Harmonious Life in the Source of the Three Rivers”, the 2022 Qinghai International Exchanges and Cooperation Forum on Eco-civilisation was held. Mr. Lin Songtian, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Mr. Kuang Yong, Vice Governor of Qinghai Province, Mr. Jesus Seade, Ambassador of Mexico to China, Mr. Moin Ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, and Mr. Siyabonga Cyprian Cwele, Ambassador of South Africa to China, delivered remarks. Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ACC, attended the forum.

At the forum, heads of the Forestry and Grassland Department and Culture and Tourism Department of Qinghai Province, as well as representatives of relevant enterprises made presentations on the development of ecological civilisation in Qinghai. Three signing ceremonies of cooperation agreements were held via video, and the “Salto (Uruguay)-Qinghai” Window of Friendship was unveiled. 

In addition, Secretary-General Chen Dehai and other guests met with Mr. Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Qinghai Provincial People’s Congress, and Mr. Wu Xiaojun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and Governor of Qinghai Province, on the afternoon of 21 July, and then attended the welcome banquet.
